Worried About Furnace Repair?

If you're like most people then you don't have the proverbial money tree growing in the back yard for things that come up out of the blue.  Worrying about furnace repair in the winter or air conditioning repair in the summer can become quite a burden.  This is especially true for homeowners in the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky area because our weather can so rapidly change from one day to the next.  We truly experience every season here in the Tri-State area, so it's important to be prepared for the coldest day and warmest day all year long.

Avoiding furnace repair during the winter is an absolute must.  Already in 2014 we've challenged records when it comes to freezing temperatures and snow fall accumulations.  For some people, gas and electric bills have been quite shocking and depleted bank accounts rapidly.  An expensive furnace repair bill is the last thing we need on top of it all.  So why not take the steps to avoid an expensive breakdown and even reduce your monthly bill?  Here are two simple steps that will help you do just that.

1.  SCHEDULE YOUR TUNEUP

Don't roll your eyes!!  Would you rather spend a few dollars or hundreds of dollars when you need to call an HVAC contractor for furnace repair?  A tuneup is a quick, simple and inexpensive way to eliminate your worry and avoid the added cost.  Get a tuneup every year before you need a furnace repair that could be very expensive.  The HVAC contractor you call should tell you before they come how much your tuneup will cost so you can plan accordingly.  Look for coupons and other specials that might reduce your cost even more.  Also, make sure you look for online reviews or ask for references.  It's unfortunate, but HVAC contractors are just like any other business.  There are many great ones out there and just a few that may not provide the best service.  Google Reviews and references are important to avoid any unnecessary repair costs.  Your tuneup should not take a lot of time, but it will save you a lot of worry.  Just the peace of mind alone is worth the small cost.  It also allows you to plan for any upcoming furnace repairs that may be necessary.  Your HVAC contractor will be able to tell you when a certain repair might be coming due in order to avoid furnace repair on an emergency basis that can cause discomfort and be much more expensive.

2.  CONSIDER AN UPDATE

If you are experiencing high monthly bills you may not need actual furnace repairs but rather an update.  Before your anxiety raises through the roof, understand that not all furnace updates require changing the entire system.  For instance, home automation is something to consider when you want to reduce your monthly bills.  Many of us have thermostats that we can program to raise or lower the temperatures in our house.  However, home automation takes that one step further.  For instance, you might be away from home on the weekends more than you are during the week.  If you are out shopping, and decide that you will visit friends and go out to dinner instead of eating at home, you can access your thermostat from anywhere you have an internet connection.  This means that if you have a smart phone with internet connection, you can simply log in and lower the temperature of your house since you are not going to be home anyway.  Being able to raise or lower your home temperature from anywhere you are will have an enormous impact on your monthly bill.  In addition, it will greatly increase your family's comfort.  Instead of coming home to a cold house during the winter you can raise your temperature before you get there.  Staying out of town an extra day?  Let your thermostat know that you don't want it to warm up until tomorrow.  Not sure if you lowered the temperature before leaving town?  Log in and lower it from wherever you can log in.  The difference in your peace of mind, family's comfort and monthly expense will amaze you.

Furnace repairs are an incredible source of worry and expense for every homeowner.  You can easily avoid this stress by scheduling your monthly tuneup and considering updating to home automation.  For all of your furnace repair needs, feel free to call Tri Star Heating and Cooling.  We serve the entire Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area.
